About US

This story begins with our mom Karen Robertson who took up playing the guitar when she was a young teenager. She was especially fond of folk music and knew enough songs to go on for days! In the late 60’s and 70’s she got a bit sidetracked into the counter culture of the time. Later she started attending church, married and began the journey of putting her life back together again.

Josh and Frances along with their other siblings grew up playing music with their mom Karen. She loved playing her 12 string guitar and singing folk and gospel music. She was an amazing person. She inspired Tony (son-in-law) to start playing when he was 15 and he has fond memories of playing and singing into the wee hours of the morning with Karen. The guitar picture is of Karen’s 12 string and the rocking chair is our great grandmother’s from the cattle ranch mom loved visiting as a child. Sadly Karen passed away February 12, 2002 and did not get to see the legacy of God, family, and music that she began so many years ago.

We have been playing music together for a long time at various jams, barbecues, camp-outs, church sing-a-longs and bluegrass festivals, but the opportunity for a family band hadn’t presented itself until fairly recently. We are having so much fun together that now we are wondering why it didn’t happen sooner! And now we would like to share what we do with all of you! We are very happy to have the next generation involved with the band and look forward to having them perform with Family Circle.

We celebrate our roots and invite you into our Family Circle.

Thank you for joining us!
